The body of work of the series Beta Bodies I are made from found cardboard: repaired, painted, cut apart, and sewn back together. Each piece of cardboard carries its handling visibly within it – like scars that are not concealed but written into the surface. Built up through many layers of oil glaze, monochrome body-like forms emerge, in which colour, material, and skin become inseparable; a final lacquer seals in both luminosity and permanence.

Beta Bodies I forms the precursor to the newest body of work – made with oil rather than self-produced pigments, but already carrying the same underlying question: how a wounded, mended material becomes a body in its own right.
